French Broad River Academy 

French Broad River Academy is a split-gender, independent middle school serving grades 6–8 in Woodfin, North Carolina. The school offers a rigorous academic program alongside outdoor education, experiential learning, and leadership opportunities.

The North Campus was completed in 2015, followed by the South Campus in 2026. While the two buildings are distinctly different in their design, both were conceived around the same core parameters and intentions: to create a home for a middle school of approximately 72 students, provide classrooms that feel intimate, comfortable, and quiet, and incorporate a flexible multipurpose space capable of supporting a wide range of school activities—from daily lunches and gatherings to school-wide musical performances and special events.

The result is two unique campus environments shaped by a shared vision: spaces that support both focused learning and the community, collaboration, and experiential nature of the French Broad River Academy experience. Photos below are of the South Campus.
